HHC-O, hexahydrocannabinol, or HHC is another legal less-known cannabinoids (discovered in 1944) and an alternative to CBD and Delta-8. Our HHC is made from premium hemp-derived CBD and as such is federally legal under the 2018 Farm Bill as it contains less than 0.3% THC on a dry-weight basis.
HHC potency is between delta-10 or delta-8 and delta-9 THC. It isn’t called THC in comparison to Delta-8 THC, Delta-9 THC or Delta-10 THC but HHC produces similar euphoric psychoactive effects than Delta-9 THC. It may not show up in a drug test (do not take the risk though). The receptors that are bound to HHC in your body are different from other CBD / delta-8 cannabinoids.
There have not been many studies on HHC but it may be promising. A study from 2011 shows that HHC may demonstrate “potential anti-cancer agents inhibit cell proliferation and tumor angiogenesis” and HHC is known to possess antioxidant properties.
HHC could be compared to delta-9 THC molecules in which hydrogen has been added. This process, called hydrogenation (it is used to make margarine from vegetable oil for instance) improves the stability structure of the HHC molecule (vs delta-9 THC) and is more resistant to heat and light which means that it has a longer shelf life. HHC is a naturally-derived cannabinoid and can be considered as semi-synthetic since it is produced in a lab from organic natural hemp (HHC is naturally found in the seeds and pollen of hemp).
